Which extensions add a year when you transfer them?

All generic extensions add one year. ICANN's Transfer Policy says a completed transfer extends the registration by one year, with at most 10 years left in total. That covers .com, .net, .org, .info, .xyz, .app, .dev and the other gTLDs on this page.

Country codes follow their own registry. Registrar notes say .io, .co, .me, .tv, .gg, .cc and .to renew on transfer, without stating the length. .ai adds two years at the registry, and we bill its transfer once. .uk and .ch keep the old expiry date. For .de and .nl, the term is billed by the registrar, so the answer depends on it.

When a guide says the length is not stated, compare the expiry date before and after the move.

How long does a transfer take for each extension?

Up to 5 calendar days for gTLDs. The losing registrar has five days to object, and if it stays silent the transfer goes through. Many registrars approve earlier.

A few registries skip the wait. DENIC moves a .de as soon as the AuthInfo matches. SIDN moves a .nl as soon as the token is submitted. Registrar notes describe .gg as real-time. At the other end, registrar notes give the losing registrar 7 days for .ai.

In every case, your nameservers are kept by default, so the website and email keep answering while the request waits. The status in My domains goes from Requested to Waiting for the current registrar, then Completed or Failed with the reason.

Which locks can block a transfer?

Three kinds of lock matter:

• The registrar lock (clientTransferProhibited). You remove it yourself in your current account before you start.
• The 60-day period after registration or a transfer. ICANN lets gTLD registrars refuse in that window, and many registries apply it as a hard lock. Registrar notes list it for .com, .info, .biz, .xyz, .online, .cloud, .top, .io, .co, .me, .tv, .cc and .to.
• The 60-day lock after a change of registrant on gTLDs, unless you opted out before the change.

The adopted ICANN Transfer Policy Review will shorten the post-registration and post-transfer locks to 30 days. ICANN has not published a start date, so the 60-day rules still apply on 19 October 2026.

Why are some extensions sold only with Domain protection?

Because their registry needs a holder name and address, and we ask for one verified email only. For .de, .uk, .nl, .ch, .cc and .to, DomaineGoat LLC becomes the holder of record, and the registry receives our details, not yours. The transfer and the change of registrant go in the same order.

The prices in the table below already include Domain protection (+$29/year per domain) for these six. A .uk transfer goes through support, because it uses a tag instead of a code.

What is the same for every extension?

The way you order. Enter the domain and its code in the transfer form, one line per domain, up to 20 per request. You can also paste a list with the domain and the code on each line. Larger portfolios go in several requests: see bulk domain transfer.

Payment is in crypto only (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC), from a balance topped up with at least $25. No ID and no KYC: one verified email per domain, kept private. WHOIS privacy is included where the registry allows it, and the code to leave is free, from your account, at any time.
