What does a transfer from Namecheap really cost?
The year after a transfer costs more at Namecheap than the transfer itself. On 19 October 2026, a .com cost $11.48 to transfer in, then $18.48 a year to renew at list price. A coupon lowered the renewal to $14.78.
At TransferOffshore, transfer, renewal and first year cost the same: $12.49 for a .com. The transfer adds one year to the current expiry date, and the time you already paid is kept. All prices are on the price list.
Prices will move soon. Verisign raises the .com wholesale price from $10.26 to $10.97 on 1 November 2026.
How do bulk transfers compare?
Namecheap takes more domains per batch. Its help center article, updated on 23 April 2025, sets a maximum of 50 domains per submission. Coupons for more than 5 .com, .net, .org or .me domains go through its support team.
TransferOffshore takes up to 20 domains per request, each with its own auth code. You can paste a list with one domain and code per line. Larger portfolios go in several requests, sorted by expiry date. See bulk domain transfer and domain portfolio transfer.
When does Namecheap hand over customer data?
On a court order or a subpoena, according to a court record. In Infante v. Namecheap, Namecheap said it would not disclose the registrant's information without a court order or subpoena, and it complied with a subpoena on 8 December 2025. This comes from the filings as published by tlblog.org.
In a separate case, a federal judge in Arizona ordered Namecheap, which was not a party, to explain why it should not pay a plaintiff's costs. The domain in dispute had lapsed and was registered again, per webhosting.today on 6 October 2026. We found no outcome.
Our rule is different. TransferOffshore is the domain transfer service of DomaineGoat LLC, a company incorporated in Panama: move one domain or a whole portfolio with its auth codes, keep your DNS running, and pay in crypto with no ID. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record, which keeps its own legal duties and abuse contact. DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. See why Panama.
How do you move a domain from Namecheap to TransferOffshore?
Unlock the domain at Namecheap, get the auth code, and enter both in our transfer form.
- Check that 60 days have passed since the domain was registered or last moved.
- If Namecheap hosts your DNS, copy the records first. We keep your current nameservers by default.
- Pay from your crypto balance. Send the exact amount, click I've sent the payment; the payment is matched by its exact amount and credited once the network confirms it.
- Namecheap has up to 5 days to answer. Status shows in My domains, with the reason if it fails.
Screens and menu names are in the Namecheap transfer guide.
When is Namecheap the better choice?
Namecheap is the better choice if you need more than 20 domains in one batch, since it takes 50. Its codes also bring a .com transfer down to $10.91 for up to 5 domains, as of 19 October 2026.
TransferOffshore fits better if you want a service outside the USA, one stable price at renewal, no ID check written into the terms, and a written disclosure rule. See the full ranking of registrars to transfer to.
Namecheap alternative: FAQ
Why does my Namecheap renewal cost more than the transfer?
Because Namecheap prices them differently. On 19 October 2026 its .com list price was $11.48 to transfer and $18.48 to renew, per domainoffer.net. At TransferOffshore the transfer and the renewal of a .com both cost $12.49, so the second year costs the same as the first.
Does Namecheap accept crypto?
Yes, Bitcoin, as a balance top-up through BTCPay or BitPay, as of October 2026. BitPay needs a BitPay wallet and asks for ID above $3,000. TransferOffshore accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC) as a top-up, with a minimum of $25. No ID document is asked.
Can Namecheap ask for my ID?
Yes, in some cases. Its terms allow an ID document and selfie check through Veriff in disputes or abuse cases, per its help center as read on 8 October 2026. TransferOffshore asks for no ID document, no selfie and no phone number: one verified email per domain, kept private.
How many domains can I move from Namecheap at once?
Up to 20 per request at TransferOffshore, each line with its own auth code. Namecheap's own bulk tool allows 50 per submission for transfers in or out. A portfolio of 100 domains takes five requests on our side. Send the ones expiring soonest first.
Will my email stop when I leave Namecheap?
Not if your nameservers and email host stay the same. TransferOffshore keeps your current nameservers by default. If Namecheap hosts your DNS records or your email, copy the records and keep that service running until the transfer is complete. A transfer moves the registration only.
