What 'offshore' really changes (and what it does not)

An offshore registrar changes who must answer a complaint or a court order. It does not take a domain out of the global rules.

What changes: TransferOffshore is the domain transfer service of DomaineGoat LLC, a company incorporated in Panama: move one domain or a whole portfolio with its auth codes, keep your DNS running, and pay in crypto with no ID. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record, which keeps its own legal duties and abuse contact. DomaineGoat LLC acts on Panamanian court orders. A foreign judgment must first be recognised in Panama. Details are on why Panama.

What does not change:

  • Every ICANN-accredited registrar signs the same contract. It must verify the registrant email within 15 days and act on well-documented DNS abuse.
  • Trademark disputes on gTLDs go through the UDRP. The registrar applies the panel decision, wherever it is based.
  • Registries keep the registrant record under their own law, except the thin .com and .net registries, which hold no contact data. With Domain protection, the registry shows our company, not you.

ICANN can also remove a registrar. It terminated Trustname's accreditation in a notice dated 27 August 2026, over abuse handling. Its domains then moved to other registrars.

Which registrar fits your case?

Pick the registrar that matches your first need, not the longest feature list.

  • You pay in Monero: Njalla, OrangeWebsite or 1984 Hosting. We do not accept it.
  • Smallest yearly bill, and a card is fine: Cloudflare at $10.46, Dynadot at $10.88 or Porkbun at $11.08 for a .com. All three are in the USA.
  • Hundreds of domains in one batch: Gandi takes 150 per batch, but renews .com at $38.38. We take 20 per request; see bulk domain transfer.
  • A service outside the USA, no ID, nameservers untouched: that is the case we built TransferOffshore for. Prices are on the price list.

What should you check before moving a domain to any registrar?

Check four things before you pay anywhere.

  1. The renewal price, not only the transfer price. A cheap transfer can hide a high renewal.
  2. The 60-day rule. A domain registered or moved in the last 60 days usually cannot be transferred. See transfer lock.
  3. DNS hosted at the old registrar. Copy those records first, or the site can stop. See transfer without DNS downtime.
  4. A recent renewal. A transfer right after an automatic renewal can cost that year at some registrars. Read how domain transfers work.

Transferring to an offshore registrar: FAQ

What is an offshore domain registrar?

An offshore domain registrar is one based outside the country of its customers, usually outside the USA and the EU. TransferOffshore is run by DomaineGoat LLC in Panama, and its domains are registered through an ICANN-accredited registrar partner. The domain still follows ICANN rules and the rules of its registry, so offshore changes who handles complaints, not the global rules.

Which offshore registrars accept Monero?

Njalla, OrangeWebsite and 1984 Hosting accept Monero (XMR), as of October 2026, per their own pages or the research sources below. 1984 Hosting does not offer crypto to users who appear to be in Iceland. TransferOffshore does not accept Monero: we take Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC).

Is an offshore registrar cheaper than Namecheap or Porkbun?

Not usually. On 19 October 2026, Porkbun charged $11.08 for a .com transfer and renewal, and Namecheap $11.48 to transfer. Privacy-first offshore providers sat between $15.99 and €18.90. Our .com transfer is $12.49, and the renewal is the same price.

Does a transfer add a year to my domain?

Yes, on .com, .net, .org and other gTLDs, at TransferOffshore and at most registrars in this list. The year is added to the current expiry date. Country extensions follow their registry: .uk adds no year, and some registries count from the transfer date.

Can an offshore registrar refuse every takedown?

No. ICANN rules require every accredited registrar to act on well-documented phishing, malware and botnets, and to apply UDRP decisions. We refuse to act on a complaint alone, such as copyright or defamation claims without a Panamanian court decision. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud are acted on within 24 hours of a documented report, child abuse material at once.

How many domains can I transfer at once?

Up to 20 per request at TransferOffshore, each line with its own auth code. Namecheap allows 50 per submission and Gandi 150 per batch. Porkbun, Dynadot and Cloudflare state no maximum. Larger portfolios simply go in several requests; see domain portfolio transfer.
