How is Njalla's model different from ours?

Njalla registers the domain in its own name and lets you use it. Its terms, as quoted on the Privacy Guides forum, say you may ask at any time for the registration to be put formally in your name. You must then agree in writing to the terms Njalla itself is bound by.

TransferOffshore works the other way round. You are the registrant of record by default, from one verified email, with WHOIS/RDAP privacy included at no cost. If you want a company on record instead, add Domain protection for $29 a year per domain. Then:

  1. the registry and WHOIS show DomaineGoat LLC, never you;
  2. the transfer lock is on by default, and every transfer or DNS change must be confirmed from your account;
  3. your data is kept to a minimum: DomaineGoat LLC holds only your email;
  4. every complaint is read by a person before any action on the domain, and you are told when the law allows it. That review exists only with the option, and the abuse deadlines stay the same.

You stay the beneficial owner. You can take the domain back into your own name, or move it out with a free code.

Who runs Njalla today?

Njalla is run by njalla.srl in Costa Rica, according to a blog post published on 14 September 2025. The author dates the change, from archived copies of the terms, to between 2 October and 16 December 2024. Before that, the operator was 1337 Services LLC in Nevis. The author says support called it an "internal restructuring". Njalla did not announce it, per the same post.

Two other dated events matter to domain owners:

  • May 2021: Njalla said a forged German court order led Tucows to hand one of its domains to an attacker, as reported by onlinedomain.com.
  • May 2025: the European Commission added Njalla to its Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List as a piracy facilitation service. TorrentFreak (23 May 2025) argued the wording looked copied from a film-industry submission.

These are reports and allegations, not court findings.

How much does moving from Njalla cost?

A .com costs $12.49 to transfer to us, with one year added to the expiry date. Njalla charged €15 a year for a .com on 19 October 2026, its own euro price, per domainoffer.net.

The gap shrinks if you want a company on record. Njalla's price already includes its proxy model. With us, Domain protection adds $29 a year per domain. Every price is on the price list. Payment is in crypto only: send the exact amount, click I've sent the payment; the payment is matched by its exact amount and credited once the network confirms it.

How do you move a domain out of Njalla?

We could not read Njalla's own transfer pages, so we do not describe its steps. Look for the auth code in your Njalla account, or ask Njalla support for it.

Because Njalla is the registrant of record, check who will be the registrant after the transfer. Its terms, as quoted, let you ask for the domain to be put in your own name first. If you prefer a company on record after the move, choose Domain protection on our side.

Then:

  1. Check that the domain was not registered or moved in the last 60 days. See transfer lock.
  2. If Njalla hosts your DNS, copy every record and point the domain to other nameservers before you start. See transfer without DNS downtime.
  3. Enter the name and the code in the transfer form. Status shows in My domains: Requested, then Waiting for the current registrar (up to 5 days), then Completed or Failed with the reason.

The Njalla transfer guide has more detail.

When is Njalla the better choice?

Njalla is the better choice if you pay in Monero. We do not accept it. Njalla also includes its proxy model in one flat price, while our company-on-record option costs extra.

TransferOffshore fits better if you want the domain in your own name, a written disclosure rule, nameservers kept during the move, and up to 20 domains per request. Compare other options in our ranking of registrars to transfer to.

Moving away from Njalla: FAQ

Do I own my domain at Njalla?

Not as the registrant of record. Njalla's terms, as quoted on the Privacy Guides forum, register the domain in Njalla's name and let you use it. The same terms let you ask for a formal transfer into your name. At TransferOffshore the domain is in your name unless you choose Domain protection.

Can I pay TransferOffshore in Monero like at Njalla?

No. TransferOffshore takes Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), from a prepaid balance with a minimum top-up of $25. You send the exact amount, and the payment is credited once the network confirms it. If Monero is a must, Njalla, OrangeWebsite and 1984 Hosting accept it, as of October 2026.

Will my website stop when I move a domain from Njalla?

Not if your DNS is hosted somewhere other than Njalla. TransferOffshore keeps your current nameservers by default. If Njalla hosts your DNS records, copy them and point the domain to new nameservers before you start, because DNS hosted at the old registrar can stop once the domain leaves.

Is Domain protection the same as Njalla's model?

It is close, at a separate price of $29 a year per domain. Our company is on record at the registry and in WHOIS, the transfer lock is on by default, we hold only your email, and a person reads every complaint before any action. You can take the domain back into your name at any time.

How long does a transfer from Njalla take?

Up to 5 days for a .com once the request is sent. The old registrar has 5 days to answer; if it does not refuse, the transfer completes. A wrong code or an active lock makes the request fail, and you can fix the code from your account.

Why is Njalla on an EU watch list?

The European Commission added Njalla to its Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List in May 2025, calling it a piracy facilitation service. TorrentFreak reported this on 23 May 2025 and argued the label was copied from an industry submission. It is a listing, not a court ruling.
