Quick answer
How do I transfer a .info domain?
A .info transfer needs the domain unlocked, its auth code, and a request on TransferOffshore. Identity Digital, the registry, adds one year to the expiry. The old registrar has up to 5 days to answer. Names younger than 60 days are blocked at the registry. As of 19 October 2026, the .info transfer costs $20.99, billed once, paid in crypto.

What happens when a .info domain changes registrar?
Identity Digital publishes how its grace periods work, and they explain most .info transfer problems.
- Add Grace Period: the first 5 days after registration. No transfer.
- Creation lock: 60 days at the registry, according to registrar notes. No transfer.
- Auto-Renew Grace Period: 45 days after expiry. Transfer allowed.
- Redemption Grace Period: after deletion. No transfer until the domain is restored.
The auto-renew period matters most. If the domain expired and the registry auto-renewed it, you can still move it. The registry credits the losing registrar for that renewal and cancels the year. Your transfer then adds one year. Net result: one year beyond the old expiry date.
In redemption, nothing works. The current registrar must restore the domain first, usually for a fee, and only then can a transfer start.
What should you check before moving a .info domain?
- Count the days since registration or since the last transfer. Under 60, wait.
- If the .info expired, check whether it is in auto-renew grace or already in redemption. RDAP shows
redemptionPeriodin the second case. - .info names often host landing pages in a registrar's site builder. Move the content before the domain leaves.
- Ask the old registrar whether it refunds a renewal it charged you in the last 45 days.
What does a .info transfer cost?
$20.99 for the .info transfer, then $20.99/year to renew (all prices). The year Identity Digital adds is in that price. A transfer during auto-renew grace does not make you pay a second year.
Who uses .info domains?
Information sites, documentation, campaign pages and landing pages use .info. Tip: if your .info only redirects to another site, note the redirect target first. Registrar redirects often stop when the domain leaves.
.info transfer questions
Can I transfer a .info in the auto-renew grace period?
Yes. The registry cancels the auto-renewal year, credits the losing registrar, and your transfer adds one year. You end one year past the old expiry date, not two. Whether the old registrar refunds what it charged you is up to that registrar.
Why does the registry block a new .info?
Registrar notes from CentralNic Reseller list a 60-day registry lock after a .info registration. Identity Digital also blocks transfers during the 5-day Add Grace Period. A brand-new .info therefore waits about two months before it can move.
My .info is in redemption. Can TransferOffshore take it?
Not yet. A domain in the Redemption Grace Period cannot be transferred. The current registrar must restore it first, then a normal transfer can start. See expired domain transfer for the order of steps.
