Transfer a .co domain to TransferOffshore

Last updated: · 3 min read

Quick answer

How do I transfer a .co domain?

Moving a .co to TransferOffshore takes the unlocked domain, its auth code and up to 5 days. The registry renews the name on transfer, according to registrar notes. Remember that .co caps a registration at 5 years, and new names are locked for 60 days. As of 19 October 2026, the .co transfer costs $32.49, billed once and paid in crypto.

What happens when a .co domain changes registrar?

Colombia's country code became a global startup extension, but its rules come from its own registry, not from an ICANN contract.

Three .co rules matter for a transfer:

  1. Two 60-day locks. Registrar notes list one after registration and another after each transfer. A .co that changed registrar in August cannot move again before October.
  2. A five-year ceiling. A .co can be registered for at most 5 years. If your name already runs close to that, the added time may be limited. Ask support before you pay.
  3. Longer codes. The auth code has 16 to 48 characters. Copy it whole; a missing character is a common reason for a failed request.

Privacy is not a problem on .co. The registry explicitly permits privacy and proxy services, so the free privacy on our side is allowed.

What should you check before moving a .co domain?

  • Check both lock dates: the creation date and the date of the last transfer.
  • Paste the auth code from the source, not retyped. Long codes break easily.
  • Look at the expiry date. If it is more than four years away, ask support how the added time is handled.
  • If the .co redirects to a .com, keep that redirect where it is during the move.

What does a .co transfer cost?

$32.49 for the .co transfer, then $32.49/year to renew (all prices). The registry renews on transfer, so that payment extends the term. The added time cannot push a .co past the 5-year maximum.

Who uses .co domains?

Startups, companies looking for a short .com alternative, and Colombian businesses use .co. Tip: many .co names were bought as a defensive copy of a .com. Transfer both together and keep their expiry dates aligned.

.co transfer questions

Can I transfer a .co I moved two months ago?

Only if more than 60 days have passed since that transfer. Registrar notes list a 60-day lock after a .co transfer, not only after registration. Check the date of the last transfer in RDAP or with your current registrar.

Is the 5-year limit a problem for a transfer?

Only if your .co is already registered several years ahead. The registry allows at most 5 years. If the added time would pass that, the registry may cap it. Ask support, with your expiry date, before you pay.

Is WHOIS privacy allowed on .co?

Yes. The .co registry states that privacy and proxy registrations are permitted. TransferOffshore includes privacy on .co at no extra cost. Your verified email stays with us and is never published.
