Quick answer

How do I transfer a domain from Name.com?

To transfer a domain from Name.com, open My Domains, pick the name and click Show Auth Code under Transfer Auth Code in Domain Details. Paste it into TransferOffshore. As of October 2026, the code reads unavailable for 60 days after a registration or transfer, and support can speed up a move once started.

Name.com: what to click, in order

  1. Open My Domains

Sign in and pick the domain in "My Domains".

  2. Unlock it

Turn off the lock on the domain details page. We could not read the exact toggle label.

  3. Export DNS

Copy your records by hand or with Name.com's CSV export tool.

  4. Reveal the code

In "Domain Details", open "Transfer Auth Code" and click "Show Auth Code". Localized pages say "Domain Actions" > "Show Transfer Authorization Code".

  5. Ask support to speed it up

Once the transfer has started, Name.com support can approve it so it ends within a few hours.

Why does Name.com show the code as unavailable?

Because the domain is inside its 60-day window. Name.com shows "unavailable" for 60 days after a registration or a transfer and says this cannot be waived.

Wait until the date passes. Note that Name.com treats WHOIS privacy changes as material contact changes, per a search excerpt. Toggling privacy just before a move can therefore start a contact-change lock.

How reliable are these Name.com labels?

Fairly, not fully. Name.com's help pages did not render when we read them on 19 October 2026. The labels come from search excerpts of its official articles.

Its English and localized pages also name the menu differently. If a label does not match, look for "auth code" on the domain page.

What do you do on TransferOffshore with the code?

Paste the name and its code in the transfer form: one row per domain, up to 20 rows per request. Your current nameservers are kept by default. A .com transfer costs $12.49 and adds one year (all prices). You pay from a crypto balance, with no ID. By ICANN rules, a registrar must hand over the code within 5 calendar days. It cannot hold the code back over a payment dispute (auth code guide).

Name.com transfer questions

Can I opt out of the Name.com contact-change lock?

Name.com has an article titled "Opting out of the 60-day contact change transfer lock", updated 12 December 2023. We saw the title but did not read its content, so the method stays unverified. Read it before you change any contact data.

How do I speed up a transfer out of Name.com?

Contact support after the transfer has started. Name.com's help (search excerpt) says it can approve an outgoing transfer on request, so that it completes in a few hours. Before that point there is nothing to approve. Without such a request, plan for the 5-day ICANN default.

What does a .com cost at Name.com?

We found no reliable .com transfer or renewal price for Name.com on 19 October 2026, so we show none here. Check Name.com's own price page. TransferOffshore lists every extension, with one price for transfer and renewal, on its price list.
