Transfer a domain from Spaceship to an offshore registrar

Spaceship publishes no transfer-out article we could find. These steps come from other registrars' guides and are marked as such.

Quick answer

How do I transfer a domain from Spaceship?

To transfer a domain from Spaceship, open Domain Portfolio, select the name, then Transfer, Transfer domain and Unlock Domain to see the code. Paste it into TransferOffshore. As of October 2026, other registrars' guides say approving Spaceship's email can finish the move the same day. Otherwise it takes up to 5 business days.

The Spaceship path, as other registrars describe it

  1. Open Domain Portfolio

Go to Domain Portfolio, or Launchpad > Domain Portfolio.

  2. Select the name

Click the domain; a panel opens on the right.

  3. Choose Transfer

In that panel, pick "Transfer", then "Transfer domain".

  4. Unlock and copy

Click "Unlock Domain". The code is displayed next.

  5. Approve by email

When Spaceship writes to you about the request, approve it to speed things up.

Where do these Spaceship steps come from?

From other registrars. We found no official Spaceship transfer-out article on 19 October 2026. The labels come from a Porkbun knowledge-base article and a Dynadot help page, both secondary.

They may lag behind Spaceship's interface. Treat them as a map, and trust what your own screen shows.

What if Spaceship rejects or delays the code?

Fetch the code again from the "Transfer" option, as the Porkbun guide suggests for rejected codes. Watch the expiry date too: the same guide says a move cannot be expedited if the domain expires first.

Spaceship's flow also shows a disclaimer about services that disconnect, per a Dynadot page. Copy DNS settings before you approve.

What do you do on TransferOffshore with the code?

Paste the name and its code in the transfer form: one row per domain, up to 20 rows per request. Your current nameservers are kept by default. A .com transfer costs $12.49 and adds one year (all prices). You pay from a crypto balance, with no ID. By ICANN rules, a registrar must hand over the code within 5 calendar days. It cannot hold the code back over a payment dispute (auth code guide).

Spaceship transfer questions

Does Spaceship accept Bitcoin?

Not confirmed. Its Domain Registration Agreement mentions Bitcoin in a search excerpt, but we found no Spaceship payment page that confirms it. Its refund policy (search excerpt) says crypto deposits are non-refundable. TransferOffshore takes BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC into a prepaid balance and asks for no ID document. Unused balance stays on the account for renewals.

How long does a Spaceship transfer take?

The same day if you approve the email, according to Porkbun's guide (secondary). Without approval, allow up to 5 business days, which can mean a full week. On TransferOffshore, the status moves from "Requested" to "Waiting for the current registrar", then to "Completed".

Is there a lock on new Spaceship domains?

Yes, 60 days after registration, per a secondary guide. A contact-change lock and any opt-out are unverified for Spaceship. Check the creation date in WHOIS before you start, so the request does not fail as too recent. A failed row can be corrected on TransferOffshore.
