What happened to Epik's ownership?

Epik changed hands, and its accreditation moved to a new company. ICANN approved moving it from Epik Inc. to Epik LLC in late January 2024, according to Domain Incite on 4 February 2024. The same report says Epik LLC, a company of Registered Agents Inc., bought Epik's business in June 2023.

Epik said it had removed "a handful of problematic clients" and that former owners, including Rob Monster, had no involvement. ICANN called Epik LLC "completely independent of Epik, Inc.", per the same Domain Incite report.

What did the 2021 Epik breach expose?

On 13 September 2021, attackers released about 180 GB of Epik data, according to Wikipedia's summary of press reports. About 15 million unique email addresses were exposed, according to the same summary. Many were WHOIS records of people who were not Epik customers.

Epik's breach notice filed with the Maine Attorney General lists 110,000 people affected and a discovery date of 15 September 2021.

The breach is five years old and the company has new owners. It still shows why the amount of data a registrar keeps matters. TransferOffshore asks for one verified email per domain, which ICANN requires, and no ID document. With Domain protection, the registry holds our company's details instead of yours.

What could we not verify about Epik in 2026?

We could not verify Epik's current payment methods, privacy service, ID rules, transfer terms or disclosure policy. epik.com returned an error to every request on 19 October 2026.

On Trustpilot, reviews from September and October 2025 allege DNS and account problems. These are individual reports, not verified facts.

How do you move a domain away from Epik?

TransferOffshore is the domain transfer service of DomaineGoat LLC, a company incorporated in Panama: move one domain or a whole portfolio with its auth codes, keep your DNS running, and pay in crypto with no ID. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record, which keeps its own legal duties and abuse contact.

  1. Ask Epik for the auth code and remove the transfer lock.
  2. If Epik hosts your DNS, copy every record before you start. See transfer without DNS downtime.
  3. Enter the name and code in the transfer form, up to 20 domains per request.
  4. Top up in crypto: send the exact amount, click I've sent the payment; the payment is matched by its exact amount and credited once the network confirms it.
  5. Epik has up to 5 days to answer. My domains shows Completed, or Failed with the reason.

Epik alternative: FAQ

Is Epik still in business in 2026?

Its prices are still listed: domainoffer.net showed Epik's .com at $15.99 on 19 October 2026. The registrar now runs as Epik LLC, after ICANN approved the change from Epik Inc. in January 2024. We could not open epik.com to confirm its current terms.

Does Epik accept crypto in 2026?

We could not verify it. Epik announced Bitcoin payments through BitPay in 2016, but its site refused our requests on 19 October 2026. TransferOffshore accepts Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), from a prepaid balance with a minimum top-up of $25. Ask Epik support for its current payment options.

Was my data exposed in the Epik breach?

Possibly, even if you were never a customer. The 2021 release included about 15 million email addresses, many from WHOIS records Epik had collected, according to Wikipedia's summary. You can search your email on Have I Been Pwned.

Will my website stay online when I leave Epik?

Yes, if your nameservers stay the same. TransferOffshore keeps your current nameservers by default. If Epik hosts your DNS, copy the records and point the domain to other nameservers first, because DNS hosted at the old registrar can stop when the domain leaves.

Who owns Epik now?

Epik LLC, a company of Registered Agents Inc., bought Epik's business in June 2023, according to Domain Incite on 4 February 2024. The accreditation was moved to Epik LLC, which ICANN described as independent of Epik, Inc. Epik said its former owners, including Rob Monster, are not involved.
