**Quick answer — How do I transfer a .biz domain?**

TransferOffshore moves a .biz with the usual gTLD steps: unlock, copy the auth code, submit the request. The losing registrar has 5 days to respond, and GoDaddy Registry adds one year. A .biz younger than 60 days cannot move yet. As of 19 October 2026, the .biz transfer costs **$20.99**, billed once, paid in crypto.

## What happens when a .biz domain changes registrar?

Neustar ran .biz for years. GoDaddy Registry now operates it, and some registrar help pages still use the old name. The name on the page does not change the procedure.

.biz is a generic TLD under ICANN contract. Three rules follow from that:

1. The auth code is the only proof the registry needs.
2. The losing registrar gets five calendar days. It may refuse only for reasons listed in the Transfer Policy.
3. One year is added at completion, within the 10-year ceiling.

The registry policy says .biz is meant for bona fide business or commercial use. Changing registrar does not change that rule. A .biz that someone could challenge before the move can be challenged after it too.

Nothing about the transfer touches your website. Your nameservers stay as they are, unless you pick ours, Cloudflare or custom ones in the form.

## What should you check before moving a .biz domain?

- Check the creation date. Registrar notes list a 60-day registry lock for .biz.
- Make sure the auth code is for the .biz itself. Owners of a .com and a .biz with the same name often mix up the codes.
- Look for a pending UDRP or URS case. Both block the transfer.
- Check who receives mail at the domain. Email set up at the old registrar may need a new host.

## What does a .biz transfer cost?

$20.99 for the .biz transfer, then $20.99/year to renew ([all prices](https://transferoffshore.com/pricing/)). That includes the year GoDaddy Registry adds. If you hold the same name in .com and .biz, each one is billed at its own price.

## Who uses .biz domains?

Small businesses, local services and shops that missed the .com use .biz. Tip: send the .biz in the same request as its .com twin. Both then show their status side by side in My domains.

## .biz transfer questions

### Is .biz still run by Neustar?

No. GoDaddy Registry operates .biz today, according to the IANA root zone record and our extension data. Some registrar knowledge bases still say Neustar. The transfer works the same in both cases: auth code, 5-day window, one year added.

### Can a .biz be refused because it is not used for business?

The transfer itself is not checked against the business-use rule. That rule sits in the registry policy and can be raised in a dispute. The losing registrar may refuse only for reasons in ICANN's Transfer Policy, such as a 60-day lock or a pending dispute.

### How long until my .biz arrives?

Up to 5 calendar days. The losing registrar can approve sooner. If it does nothing, the transfer completes at the end of the fifth day. Your nameservers are kept, so the website stays online meanwhile.
