Moving a domain offshore is an ordinary registrar transfer with a different destination. What changes is who manages the name for you and which courts that company answers to. What stays is the ICANN rulebook.

**Quick answer — How do I transfer a domain to an offshore registrar?**

To transfer a domain to an offshore registrar, unlock it, copy its auth code and submit both at the new registrar. **TransferOffshore**, run by DomaineGoat LLC in Panama, moves domains to its ICANN-accredited registrar partner. As of October 2026 it takes up to 20 domains per request, keeps your nameservers and charges **$12.49** for .com, paid in crypto.

| Leaving later | Auth code free, from your account, at any time, no exit fee |

## What does “offshore” mean for a domain registrar?

Here, offshore means the company that manages your domain is outside the usual registrar countries, in Panama. TransferOffshore is the domain transfer service of DomaineGoat LLC, a company incorporated in Panama: move one domain or a whole portfolio with its auth codes, keep your DNS running, and pay in crypto with no ID. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record, which keeps its own legal duties and abuse contact. Our Panamanian rules govern what DomaineGoat LLC does with your account, the data it holds and the complaints sent to it.

That matters for two decisions: acting on a complaint, and handing over data about the holder. Our written policy on both:

- **No action on a complaint alone.** A copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaint needs a decision that binds us, from a Panamanian court. Foreign judgments must first be recognised in Panama.
- **Data out only when Panamanian law requires it.** DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case.
- **Strict exceptions, written openly.** Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are acted on within 24 hours of a documented report; child sexual abuse material at once.

This is not legal advice. The reasons for choosing Panama, and their limits, are on [why Panama](https://transferoffshore.com/why-panama/). The full rules are in the [abuse policy](https://transferoffshore.com/abuse/) and the [disclosure policy](https://transferoffshore.com/disclosure-policy/).

## What does not change when a domain moves offshore?

The ICANN rules, the registry and the dispute process stay exactly the same. Our accredited registrar partner signs the same ICANN contract as every other registrar, and keeps its own legal duties.

- **The Transfer Policy.** The 60-day rules, the 5-day window and the one-year extension apply wherever the registrar sits.
- **UDRP.** Trademark disputes go through the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy, as ICANN requires of every registrar. We apply the panel's decision.
- **The registry's own rules.** Registries such as PIR (.org) or Identity Digital (.io) keep the registrant record under their own law; the .com and .net registries run by Verisign are thin and receive no contact data. With [Domain protection](https://transferoffshore.com/domain-protection/), the registry holds the company's details instead of yours.
- **Your host and DNS provider.** The registrar sponsors the name only. Your web host and DNS provider follow the law of their own countries.

## What should you check before you move a domain?

Five minutes of checks avoid most failed transfers. Run through this list for each domain:

1. **Age.** At least 60 days since the domain was registered or last transferred. Many registrars refuse earlier.
2. **Recent owner changes.** A change of name, organisation or email may have set a 60-day change-of-registrant lock.
3. **Expiry date.** An expired domain can move during the grace period, but not in redemption. See [expired domain transfers](https://transferoffshore.com/expired-domain-transfer/).
4. **Contact email.** The registrant email must work: the auth code and the confirmation messages go there.
5. **DNS host.** If the old registrar hosts your DNS records, copy them first. See [transfer without DNS downtime](https://transferoffshore.com/transfer-without-dns-downtime/).
6. **DNSSEC.** If you will change DNS provider, remove the DS record first.
7. **Extension.** Check that we take the extension in: the list is on the [price list](https://transferoffshore.com/pricing/) and in the [guides by extension](https://transferoffshore.com/transfer/).

The common blocks and their fixes are in [why a domain cannot be transferred](https://transferoffshore.com/transfer-lock/).

## How do you transfer a domain to TransferOffshore, step by step?

Six steps, the same for one domain or twenty.

1. **Unlock and get the code** — At your current registrar, turn off the transfer lock and request the auth code. Where to find both, registrar by registrar: transfer from….
2. **Fill in the transfer form** — Open the transfer form. Enter one domain per row with its code, or use “Paste a list” with one domain code pair per line. The code field stays hidden unless you click Show.
3. **Keep your nameservers** — When the cart holds only transfers, “Keep current nameservers” is ticked by default. You can choose our nameservers, Cloudflare or custom ones instead.
4. **Give one email per domain** — We send a verification link. ICANN rules require you to confirm the address within 15 days, or the domain is suspended. It is the only contact detail we collect, kept private.
5. **Pay in crypto** — Choose a coin, send the exact amount and click “I've sent the payment”. The payment is matched by its exact amount and credited once the network confirms it.
6. **Follow it in My domains** — Each domain shows Requested, then Waiting for the current registrar (up to 5 days), then Completed or Failed. A failed row gives the reason and a field to correct the code.

## How long does an offshore transfer take, and what does it cost?

A gTLD transfer takes up to 5 days, and it costs the renewal price of the extension. The losing registrar has 5 calendar days to answer; without an answer the transfer is approved by default. If your old registrar offers an “approve transfer” button or email, using it often finishes the move the same day.

Prices per year, as of 19 October 2026: .com $12.49, .net $12.99, .org $12.49, .io $53.49. On gTLDs the transfer adds one year to the current expiry date, capped at 10 years. For ccTLDs, the registry decides; .uk and .ch keep the expiry date. Each transfer is billed once, except .ai: 2 years, the transfer price plus one renewal ($172.98).

[Domain protection](https://transferoffshore.com/domain-protection/) is optional, at +$29/year per domain. It registers the domain in the name of DomaineGoat LLC. Extensions such as .de, .uk, .nl and .ch are sold only with it, and their listed price already includes it. Every price is on the [price list](https://transferoffshore.com/pricing/).

## Can you move a whole portfolio offshore at once?

Yes, in batches of up to 20 domains per request. Each domain keeps its own row and its own code, so one wrong code fails one row, not the batch. For 50 or 500 names, send several requests.

Start with the domains that expire soonest, and leave out any name registered or moved in the last 60 days. The [bulk transfer guide](https://transferoffshore.com/bulk-domain-transfer/) and the [portfolio plan](https://transferoffshore.com/domain-portfolio-transfer/) explain how to batch a large move.

## Which extensions cannot move here?

Extensions whose registry demands a local presence or an identity check are not sold here. That covers .us, .eu, .fr, .ca, .it, .es, .au and .jp, among others. The transfer form refuses a row whose extension we do not sell.

For .uk there is no auth code. The current registrar changes the domain's IPS tag, and Nominet moves it with its expiry date unchanged. Nominet plans to switch to code-based transfers on 9 February 2027, according to Realtime Register.

## Offshore transfer questions

### Is it legal to move my domain to an offshore registrar?

Changing registrar is a standard ICANN process open to every domain holder. Moving the name to a service run from Panama does not change the law that applies to you or your content where you live. It changes which courts can order DomaineGoat LLC to act; our registrar partner keeps its own legal duties. This is not legal advice.

### Do I need to show ID to transfer a domain here?

No. TransferOffshore asks for no ID document, no selfie, no ID number, no name, no address and no phone number. You give one email per domain, which ICANN requires to be verified within 15 days. It is the only contact detail we collect, and it is never published. Details on the [no-KYC transfer](https://transferoffshore.com/no-kyc-domain-transfer/) page.

### Will my website stay online during the move?

Yes, if your nameservers stay the same, which is our default. The transfer changes the sponsoring registrar, not the DNS. The risk is DNS, email forwarding or URL forwarding hosted by the old registrar, which can stop when the domain leaves. Copy those settings before you start.

### Does an offshore registrar protect a domain from a UDRP case?

No. Every ICANN-accredited registrar must follow the UDRP, our partner included, and the panel's decision is applied. A pending UDRP case also forces the losing registrar to deny a transfer. What moving offshore changes is how DomaineGoat LLC treats complaints outside the UDRP, such as copyright or defamation claims.

### Can I move my domain away from TransferOffshore later?

Yes. The auth code is free, from your account, at any time, and there is no exit fee. The usual ICANN timing still applies: many registrars refuse a new transfer within 60 days of the last one, and we apply the same rule. The steps are on [transfer out](https://transferoffshore.com/transfer-out/).

### How do I pay for an offshore transfer?

In crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. You top up a balance, with a minimum of $25, and each transfer is paid from it. The requests go to the registries once the top-up is credited. Unused balance stays on your account for renewals and new domains. See [pay with crypto](https://transferoffshore.com/pay-with-crypto/).
